What this site is about

For those of you who are just joining us, we thought it would be wise to offer a bit about what this site is about.

Smarter Hogville is a parody site dedicated to pointing out the rampant stupidity, irrationality, and outright insanity that passes for skilled commentary on Hogville.net and other Razorback fan sites. We do so by posting excerpts from those sites, then rewriting those excerpts in a clearer way to point out the disconnect between reality and those sites--what we like to call "Smarter Hogville Analysis." SHA is designed to drill down into what might look, on a casual glance, like insightful or incisive commentary, and to expose it for what it is.

We pick on Hogville because it is one of the most heavily trafficked college sports message boards. Quantity, unfortunately, does not necessarily lead to quality. The antics of Hogvillains and others in a certain camp of Razorback fans have made national headlines for being over the top, and they have hurt the Razorback program.

Ironically, if you asked us our opinions on the big issues that make their way onto Hogville's pages, we would probably agree in the broad strokes. We're Razorback fans. We want the Hogs to win. We don't particularly like Houston Nutt. But we differ a lot on methods, and most of all, we think that the fervor of some fans to "get" Houston Nutt has caused them to become blind to their impact on the program--and blind to how completely they have become divorced from reality.

We long for the day when this site is no longer possible.

As of today, if you do a Google search for "Hogville," we sit at #6 on the results list. We suspect that means the word is getting out. Keep spreading the word. The brain you save may be your own.
