Taking it on the chin

Since we just started yesterday, and Hogville has been going on for years, we thought it might be worth it to review, in some small way, where things stand with what we like to call "the Hogville Jihad"--the holy war against all things Nutt, no matter the price.

Newspaper ad? It makes the news, and in the news, the fans taking out the ad get blasted as loons. Nutt comes out fine.

Protest? Nutt comes out shining again, as nobody attends. The media (along with everyone else) laughs at the protestors.

FOIA? Further entrenches Nutt and brings more media attention on the fans, who are now regularly designated as "bats*** crazy."

Lawsuit? Dismissed. Nutt is further entrenched. Fans solidify status as kooks all over the national media.

Opinion poll? Comes back largely in Nutt's favor, further entrenching him. Media continues to call the fans crazy.

Play-by-Play Announcer Hiring? The mortal enemy of all Hogville posters, Chuck Barrett, is chosen, despite the now comical protests.

And, in the most recent turn of events, it turns out that 665: Brother of the Beast, a/k/a Danny Nutt, has to resign due to health reasons, and a murmured cheer rises up among Hogvillains. "At last! A crack in the shell!" (As though one might wish a brain bleed on someone to get them out of a coaching job.)

Sadly, his replacement is the son of a longtime Frank Broyles ally and Razorback Foundation functionary, Harold Horton--an insider.

"Curses!" cry the Hogvillains. "Foiled again!" Put up the white flag already.

What is with Hogville? I just went on it a month or so ago, and have been "banned" 4 times. And they have removed posts I have made, as well. Seems that any disagreement with some unspecified party line will cause you to be banned faster that a liberal in old South Africa.
