Gatorade National Player of the Year (1985 - now)
Posted by BartIV

I wanted to see how these Quarterbacks have panned out over the years. I wanted an idea of what Mitch Mustains future could look like by comparing to past winners at QB.Very mixed reviews so far.

1. Jeff George - offer from Jimmy Johnson Miami, transfered from Purdue, played Illinois - starter in NFL, had limited success.
2. Chris Walsh - NFL WR
3. Ron Powlus - Notre Dame starter and limited playing time NFL
4. Peyton Manning - Top 5 best QB in history of NFL and Great in College.
5. Brock Huard - Washington U and limited playing time NFL
6. Tim Couch - Great in college and no show in NFL (currently Jacksonville Jags)
7. Ronald Curry - NFL starting WR for Raiders
8. Chris Lewis - injuries limited career at Stanford, to Arizona Cardinals
9. Brock Berlin - transfer from Florida to Miami and limited playing time in NFL.
10. Joe Mauer - scholly offer from Florida St., but choose baseball.
11. Kyle Wright - current starting QB Miami
12. Greg Paulus - Miami and Notre Dame offers - chose Duke basketball
13. Mitch Mustain - offers Alabama, Notre Dame, Tennesse, transfer from Arkansas, currently USC.
14. John Brantley - offers from most colleges, verbal to Florida.

Couple of transfers, couple chose different sports, but it seems that 8 out of 8 went on to play in the NFL. Most had limited success in the NFL, except for Peyton Manning, but most were very successful in college. Looking at this, those who did transfer from one school to another did get to see playing time in college. Mitch Mustains future looks bright in college, but NFL seems to be hard on these Gatorade Players. Looks like MM's future is comparable to Jeff George's (strongest QB arm in NFL history) so far.

Smarter Hogville Analysis: If a QB is thought to be the best high school player in the country, he will probably do pretty well in college and might make it to the NFL, but only if he doesn't decide to play another sport or get hurt. Behold my mighty research and analytical skills!
